Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 107% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, sour cherry imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 131%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) represented the main importer of sour cherries, achieving 72% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), committing a 26% share of total imports. Luxembourg (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to sour cherry imports into the Netherlands stood at +12.3%. At the same time, Luxembourg (+17.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Luxembourg emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Benelux, with a CAGR of +17.4% from 2012-2022.
