In 2021, overseas shipments of frozen sweet corn were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Belgium represented the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which reached 85% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), creating a 15% share of total exports.

Exports from Belgium increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Netherlands (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Benelux, with a CAGR of +4.8% from 2012-2021. While the share of the Netherlands (+3.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Belgium (-3.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the largest frozen sweet corn supplier in Benelux, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with an 18% share of total exports.

In 2021, the export price in Benelux amounted to $X per ton, growing by 7.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 27%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, frozen sweet corn imports stood at $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 14%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Belgium (X tons) represented the largest importer of frozen sweet corn, making up 87% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), committing a 13% share of total imports.
