As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, preserved tuna imports contracted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.

In 2021, the Netherlands (X tons) represented the major importer of tuna (prepared or preserved), committing 82% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons), committing a 17% share of total imports.

The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the tuna (prepared or preserved) imports, with a CAGR of +12.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belgium (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth.
