Belgium represented the major exporter of tobacco (unmanufactured) in Benelux, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near 88% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), achieving a 12% share of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 202%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The Netherlands was the largest importer of tobacco (unmanufactured) in Benelux, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 55% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X tons) and Luxembourg (X tons), together generating a 45% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Luxembourg (with a CAGR of +1.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
