Vapour Generating Boiler Market Size in Benelux

In 2021, the Benelux vapour generating boiler market decreased by -48.5% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, consumption, however, posted a notable expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the production volume increased by 166%. Exports in Benelux

After three years of decline, overseas shipments of vapour generating boilers increased by 128% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a notable increase. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vapour generating boiler exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed resilient growth. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Belgium was the major exporter of vapour generating boilers in Benelux, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 75% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), constituting a 25% share of total exports.

Belgium was also the fastest-growing in terms of the vapour generating boilers exports, with a CAGR of +7.8% from 2012 to 2021. The Netherlands (-4.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Belgium (+24 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the Netherlands (-23.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Belgium ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021.

The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +6.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Benelux amounted to $X per ton, waning by -41.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 81%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Belgium totaled $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+11.3%).

Imports in Benelux

In 2021, approx. X tons of vapour generating boilers were imported in Benelux; dropping by -34% against the previous year. Overall, imports faced a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 126% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, vapour generating boiler imports dropped modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 124%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Belgium (X tons) represented the key importer of vapour generating boilers, committing 81% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), creating a 17% share of total imports. Luxembourg (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Belgium experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of vapour generating boilers. At the same time, Luxembourg (+21.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Luxembourg emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Benelux, with a CAGR of +21.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the Netherlands (-27.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belgium and Luxembourg increased by +61 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Belgium ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported vapour generating boilers in Benelux, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 31% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Belgium totaled +6.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (-8.1% per year) and Luxembourg (+17.7% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Benelux stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 47% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a buoyant increase.
