In 2022, the Netherlands (X units) was the main exporter of watch straps, bands and bracelets, constituting 79% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X units), mixing up a 21% share of total exports.

In 2022, purchases abroad of watch straps, bands and bracelets decreased by -13.5% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 42%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, bracelet imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 95% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands was the largest importer of watch straps, bands and bracelets in Benelux, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 81% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Belgium (X units), constituting a 17% share of total imports. Luxembourg (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
The Netherlands was also the fastest-growing in terms of the watch straps, bands and bracelets imports, with a CAGR of +15.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belgium (+10.5%) and Luxembourg (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth.
