As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, faced a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 1,095%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Peru (X units) was the main destination for exports of aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers from Bolivia, accounting for a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers to Peru exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Argentina (X units), fourfold. Paraguay (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 16% share.

From 2013 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Peru totaled +108.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Argentina (-32.9% per year) and Paraguay (-5.6% per year).

In value terms, Peru ($X), Paraguay ($X) and Argentina ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for aluminium cask, drum, can, box and similar container exported from Bolivia worldwide, with a combined 89% share of total exports.

Peru, with a CAGR of +118.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Export Prices by Country

The average export price for aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers stood at $X per unit in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 141%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Peru ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Bolivia

Imports of aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers into Bolivia fell slightly to X units in 2022, approximately reflecting 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 95% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Paraguay (X units) constituted the largest aluminium cask, drum, can, box and similar container supplier to Bolivia, accounting for a 55% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers from Paraguay exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Brazil (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by China (X units), with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Paraguay totaled +47.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (+42.9% per year) and China (+39.4% per year).

In value terms, Paraguay ($X) constituted the largest supplier of aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers to Bolivia, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Chile, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Paraguay totaled +56.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (+38.2% per year) and Chile (+25.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average import price for aluminium casks, drums, cans, boxes and similar containers amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 6.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 9.6%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per unit), while the price for China (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Paraguay (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
