Animal Feed Market Size in Bolivia

The Bolivian animal feed market reached $X in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the total consumption indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. After three years of growth, shipments abroad of animal and pet feed decreased by -84.5% to X tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 16,881%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, animal feed exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 750%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Uruguay (X tons) was the main destination for animal feed exports from Bolivia, with a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, animal feed exports to Uruguay exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Colombia (X tons), threefold. Brazil (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 12% share.

From 2019 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Uruguay was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (0.0% per year) and Brazil (-4.3% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for animal feed exported from Bolivia were Uruguay ($X), Colombia ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 91% share of total exports.

Brazil, with a CAGR of +25.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average animal feed export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 112% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a significant contraction. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2019 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+30.7%).

Imports into Bolivia

After ten years of growth, purchases abroad of animal and pet feed decreased by -10.6% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, animal feed imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Brazil (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of animal feed imports to Bolivia, together accounting for 57% of total imports. China, Chile, Peru, India, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, Colombia and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +106.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest animal feed suppliers to Bolivia were Brazil ($X), Argentina ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports. China, Chile, Peru, India, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, Colombia and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.

In terms of the main suppliers, India, with a CAGR of +84.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average animal feed import price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 18% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Argentina ($X per ton) and India ($X per ton), while the price for Peru ($X per ton) and the UK ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
