Peru (X kg) was the main destination for bismuth exports from Brazil, accounting for a 75% share of total exports. Moreover, bismuth exports to Peru exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Paraguay (X kg), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Chile (X kg), with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Peru amounted to +77.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Paraguay (+78.8% per year) and Chile (+39.2% per year).
In value terms, Peru ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for bismuth exports from Brazil, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Paraguay ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a 6.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Peru stood at +55.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Paraguay (+72.1% per year) and Chile (+19.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average bismuth export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 96% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 195%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+42.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Brazil
Bismuth imports into Brazil surged to X tons in 2021, picking up by 44% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, bismuth imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of bismuth to Brazil, with a 86% share of total imports. Moreover, bismuth imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), sevenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +36.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (-5.7% per year) and the UK (-57.8% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of bismuth to Brazil, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with an 8.4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +23.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (-17.3% per year) and the UK (-53.7% per year).

The average bismuth import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -6.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 12%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
