In value terms, glass bottle, jar and container exports amounted to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Argentina (X units) was the main destination for glass bottle, jar and container exports from Brazil, with a 61% share of total exports. Moreover, glass bottle, jar and container exports to Argentina exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uruguay (X units), fivefold. Colombia (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Argentina stood at +12.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uruguay (-1.3% per year) and Colombia (-1.6% per year).
In value terms, Argentina ($X) remains the key foreign market for bottles, jars and other containers of glass exports from Brazil, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Paraguay, with a 3.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Argentina totaled +8.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (-2.5% per year) and Paraguay (-3.3% per year).

The average export price for bottles, jars and other containers of glass stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -16.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 24% against the previous year. Argentina (X units), Costa Rica (X units) and Chile (X units) were the main suppliers of glass bottle, jar and container imports to Brazil, with a combined 47% share of total imports. Mexico, China, Paraguay, India, France, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Russia, Egypt and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +927.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Argentina ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest glass bottle, jar and container suppliers to Brazil, together accounting for 39% of total imports. These countries were followed by Costa Rica, France, Chile, India, Paraguay, Spain, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and Egypt, which together accounted for a further 46%.
The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +764.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average import price for bottles, jars and other containers of glass amounted to $X per unit, surging by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 30%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
