The Brazilian other cereals market declined to $X in 2021, falling by -5.9% against the previous year. Overall, consumption saw a deep setback. Other cereals consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, other cereals production reduced dramatically to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the production volume increased by 596% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.
In 2021, the average yield of other cerealses in Brazil rose modestly to X tons per ha, growing by 1.8% against 2020. Overall, the yield recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, the yield reached the peak level of X tons per ha. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the average other cereals yield remained at a lower figure. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 6,296%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, other cereals exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a sharp setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 1,416%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Argentina (X tons) was the main destination for other cereals exports from Brazil, accounting for a 64% share of total exports. Moreover, other cereals exports to Argentina exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Paraguay (X tons), twofold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Argentina was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Paraguay (+29.9% per year) and Marshall Islands (+144.7% per year).
In value terms, Argentina ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for other cereals exports from Brazil, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Paraguay ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Argentina was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Paraguay (+16.3% per year) and Marshall Islands (+108.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average other cereals export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 141% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 862% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+63.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Other Cereals Imports
Imports into Brazil
In 2021, overseas purchases of other cerealses decreased by -16% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -36.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, other cereals imports declined remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 91% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Peru (X tons) was the main other cereals supplier to Brazil, with a 94% share of total imports. Moreover, other cereals imports from Peru exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Bolivia (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Peru stood at +17.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bolivia (-23.1% per year) and the United States (+2.0% per year).
In value terms, Peru ($X) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to Brazil, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Peru stood at +13.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+2.0% per year) and Bolivia (-25.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average other cereals import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -11.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Peru ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
