In value terms, dissolving grade wood pulp exports rose notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
China (X tons) was the main destination for dissolving grade wood pulp exports from Brazil, with a 68% share of total exports. Moreover, dissolving grade wood pulp exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), threefold. Macao SAR (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to China stood at +5.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+5.2% per year) and Macao SAR (-47.3% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) remains the key foreign market for dissolving grade wood pulp exports from Brazil, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Macao SAR, with a 4.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to China was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-1.6% per year) and Macao SAR (-39.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average dissolving grade wood pulp export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -8.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 14%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +16.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of dissolving grade wood pulp to Brazil, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, dissolving grade wood pulp imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sweden (X tons), twofold. Norway (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United States amounted to +24.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (+13.9% per year) and Norway (+5.6% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dissolving grade wood pulp to Brazil, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sweden ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Norway, with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the United States totaled +19.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (+8.4% per year) and Norway (+1.9% per year).

The average dissolving grade wood pulp import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
