Over the period under review, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of envelopes decreased by -37% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 712% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, envelope imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 89%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
