Japan (X tons) was the main destination for ferro-silicon exports from Brazil, with a 39% share of total exports. In 2022, the average ferro-silicon export price amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous year. Imports into Brazil

In 2022, supplies from abroad of ferro-silicon increased by 95% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ferro-silicon imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 153% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Paraguay (X tons), China (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main suppliers of ferro-silicon imports to Brazil, with a combined 76% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Paraguay (with a CAGR of +137.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
