In value terms, glycosides and vegetable alkaloids exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X tons), China (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of glycosides and vegetable alkaloids exports from Brazil, together accounting for 85% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +56.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for glycosides and vegetable alkaloids exported from Brazil were the United States ($X), Switzerland ($X) and China ($X), together accounting for 86% of total exports. In general, the export price, however, posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 82%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, imports of glycosides and vegetable alkaloids into Brazil expanded modestly to X tons, picking up by 3.4% on 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, showed a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, glycosides and vegetable alkaloids imports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 34%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of glycosides and vegetable alkaloids to Brazil, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, glycosides and vegetable alkaloids imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X tons), with an 11% share.

In 2021, the average glycosides and vegetable alkaloids import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, glycosides and vegetable alkaloids import price increased by +13.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton.
