Grape Production in Brazil
In value terms, grape production reached $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 60%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.
In 2022, the average grape yield in Brazil shrank to X tons per ha, which is down by -7.8% compared with 2021. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, grape exports declined markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), the UK (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of grape exports from Brazil, with a combined 79% share of total exports. Argentina, Spain and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +150.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for grape exported from Brazil were the Netherlands ($X), the UK ($X) and the United States ($X), together comprising 80% of total exports. Argentina, Spain and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Spain, with a CAGR of +134.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average grape export price amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 6.8%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Brazil
In 2022, after seven years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of grapes, when their volume increased by 46% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, grape imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep reduction. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Chile (X tons) constituted the largest grape supplier to Brazil, with a 84% share of total imports. Moreover, grape imports from Chile exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Argentina (X tons), eightfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Chile stood at -11.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (-21.5% per year) and Peru (-0.3% per year).
In value terms, Chile ($X) constituted the largest supplier of grapes to Brazil, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Argentina ($X), with an 8.8% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Chile totaled -11.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Argentina (-22.1% per year) and Peru (-0.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average grape import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while the price for Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
