Argentina (X cubic meters), Chile (X cubic meters) and Uruguay (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of hydrogen exports from Brazil, together comprising 83% of total exports.

In 2022, imports of hydrogen into Brazil expanded markedly to X cubic meters, growing by 13% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, faced a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 171%. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, hydrogen imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a modest increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 135%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, the United States (X cubic meters) constituted the largest hydrogen supplier to Brazil, accounting for a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, hydrogen imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X cubic meters), more than tenfold.
