In 2021, the Brazilian industrial robot market increased by 25% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decline. In 2021, industrial robot exports from Brazil surged to X units, increasing by 27% on the previous year. Overall, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 403% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, industrial robot exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 130% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Mexico (X units) was the main destination for industrial robot exports from Brazil, accounting for a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, industrial robot exports to Mexico exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bolivia (X units), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X units), with a 7.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Mexico totaled +23.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bolivia (+14.2% per year) and Italy (-1.1% per year).
In value terms, Mexico ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for industrial robots for multiple uses exports from Brazil, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Ecuador ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 5.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Mexico stood at +10.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ecuador (+63.5% per year) and Turkey (+18.6% per year).

The average industrial robot export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 67% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 743%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Bolivia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+89.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Brazil
In 2021, purchases abroad of industrial robots for multiple uses increased by 14% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, industrial robot imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Japan (X units), Germany (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of industrial robot imports to Brazil, together comprising 60% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +16.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the largest industrial robot suppliers to Brazil, with a combined 53% share of total imports. China, the United States, France, South Korea and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
China, with a CAGR of +10.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
