Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +65.4% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 33%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, insecticide imports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 52%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Argentina (X tons), India (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of insecticide imports to Brazil, together accounting for 59% of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Denmark, Israel and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 34%.
