Lactose Market Size in Brazil

In 2022, the Brazilian lactose market increased by 2.3% to $X, rising for the sixth year in a row after four years of decline. In general, consumption showed a perceptible curtailment. Lactose consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 20%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lactose imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
