Magnesite Market Size in Brazil

For the third consecutive year, the Brazilian magnesite market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 2.9% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine years. Italy (X tons) was the main destination for magnesite exports from Brazil, accounting for a 100% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany (X kg), with less than 0.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Italy totaled +34.8%.

In value terms, Italy ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for magnesite exports from Brazil, comprising 100% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 0.1% share of total exports.

The average magnesite export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 61% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw buoyant growth. Imports into Brazil

Magnesite imports into Brazil declined sharply to X tons in 2021, falling by -17.7% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a precipitous curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 656% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, magnesite imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports faced a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 351% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of magnesite to Brazil, with a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, magnesite imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X kg), more than tenfold.
