Imports into Brazil
In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of marble and travertine, when their volume increased by 45% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, marble and travertine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight setback. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Mexico (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of marble and travertine imports to Brazil, together accounting for 90% of total imports. These countries were followed by Portugal, Indonesia and Spain, which together accounted for a further 7.8%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +46.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest marble and travertine suppliers to Brazil were Mexico ($X), Turkey ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 87% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, Portugal and Spain, which together accounted for a further 9.5%.
