Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-medical x-ray exports declined sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 644%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Egypt (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Chile (X tons) were the main destinations of non-medical x-ray exports from Brazil, together accounting for 47% of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Germany, Paraguay, Russia, Qatar, Saint Lucia and Canada, which together accounted for a further 46%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of +154.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for non-medical x-ray exported from Brazil were Egypt ($X), Mexico ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 40% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Chile, Germany, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Paraguay, Qatar, Canada, Russia and Saint Lucia, which together accounted for a further 52%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Qatar, with a CAGR of +259.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-medical x-ray export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 143% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Argentina ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+55.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Brazil
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of non-medical x-rays increased by 67% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 73%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-medical x-ray imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep reduction. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-medical x-ray imports to Brazil, with a combined 67% share of total imports. The United States, Sweden, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Denmark and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +31.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-medical x-ray suppliers to Brazil were Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 51% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, China, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese) and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 39%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +26.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-medical x-ray import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -15.6% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, non-medical x-ray import price increased by +32.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 57%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
