Bolivia (X units), Argentina (X units) and Paraguay (X units) were the main destinations of drawing chalk exports from Brazil, together comprising 50% of total exports.

In value terms, drawing chalk imports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest drawing chalk supplier to Brazil, with a 86% share of total imports. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled -3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+23.0% per year) and Germany (+0.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average drawing chalk import price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 42% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, drawing chalk import price increased by +107.8% against 2018 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
