Paraguay (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Uruguay (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic household ware exports from Brazil, together accounting for 58% of total exports. Argentina, Chile, Israel, Bolivia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +267.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Paraguay ($X), the United States ($X) and Uruguay ($X) were the largest markets for plastic household ware exported from Brazil worldwide, with a combined 52% share of total exports. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine years. In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plastic household ware to Brazil, with a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic household ware imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), more than tenfold. Paraguay (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 1.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +2.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+5.0% per year) and Paraguay (+15.8% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of plastics household articles and toilet articles to Brazil, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a 3% share of total imports. It was followed by Colombia, with a 2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +6.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hong Kong SAR (+3.3% per year) and Colombia (+66.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average plastic household ware import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 26% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the price for Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
