In value terms, non-cellular polyethylene film exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a resilient increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Chile (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of non-cellular polyethylene film exports from Brazil, together comprising 39% of total exports.

Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-cellular polyethylene film imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The United States (X tons), Israel (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-cellular polyethylene film imports to Brazil, with a combined 58% share of total imports. Argentina, France, Germany, Thailand, Chile, Spain, South Korea, Denmark, Paraguay and Uruguay lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +54.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
