Overall, exports, however, recorded perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 156% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, polymethyl methacrylate exports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 94% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Argentina (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) were the main destinations of polymethyl methacrylate exports from Brazil, together comprising 95% of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, polymethyl methacrylate imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade.
