Potato Market Size in Brazil

After two years of growth, the Brazilian potato market decreased by -8.2% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption continues to indicate a mild reduction. Potato consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 1,021% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, potato imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 469%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The Netherlands (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main suppliers of potato imports to Brazil, together comprising 92% of total imports.
