The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Japan (X tons) was the main destination for sorghum exports from Brazil, accounting for a 91% share of total exports. Moreover, sorghum exports to Japan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bolivia (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Japan was relatively modest.
In value terms, Japan ($X) and Bolivia ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for sorghum exported from Brazil worldwide.

In 2022, the average sorghum export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -82.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a sharp descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 1,502% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bolivia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Brazil
Sorghum imports into Brazil skyrocketed to X tons in 2022, increasing by 3,068% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, sorghum imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 3,012% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Paraguay (X tons) was the main sorghum supplier to Brazil, with a 99% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States (X tons), with a 0.5% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Paraguay stood at +116.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-14.5% per year) and Argentina (-11.6% per year).
In value terms, Paraguay ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sorghum to Brazil, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 9.2% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Paraguay amounted to +53.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-27.6% per year) and Argentina (-13.1% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Paraguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
