For the third year in a row, the Brazilian market for spray guns and similar appliances recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 2.2% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption, however, saw a mild expansion. Spray guns and similar appliances consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, shipments abroad of spray guns and similar appliances increased by 28% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after four years of decline. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, spray guns and similar appliances exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Colombia (X units), Argentina (X units) and Bolivia (X units) were the main destinations of spray guns and similar appliances exports from Brazil, together accounting for 59% of total exports. Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Guyana, the United States and Venezuela lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Cuba (with a CAGR of +55.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for spray guns and similar appliances exported from Brazil were Colombia ($X), Argentina ($X) and Bolivia ($X), with a combined 51% share of total exports. Paraguay, Mexico, Chile, Cuba, Uruguay, Guyana, the United States and Venezuela lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.

Among the main countries of destination, Cuba, with a CAGR of +50.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for spray guns and similar appliances stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 25%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Guyana ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Uruguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Guyana (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of spray guns and similar appliances decreased by -9.4% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 50%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, spray guns and similar appliances imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) was the main supplier of spray guns and similar appliances to Brazil, accounting for a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, spray guns and similar appliances imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Hong Kong SAR (X units), with a 1.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +3.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+0.7% per year) and Hong Kong SAR (-1.0% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of spray guns and similar appliances to Brazil, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 1.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +4.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-6.3% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-7.1% per year).

The average import price for spray guns and similar appliances stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 18% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
