Hong Kong SAR (X units) was the main destination for telecommunications instrument exports from Brazil, with a 67% share of total exports. Moreover, telecommunications instrument exports to Hong Kong SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Malaysia (X units), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X units), with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Hong Kong SAR amounted to +71.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+33.6% per year) and Hungary (-2.4% per year).

In 2021, the average telecommunications instrument export price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 200% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Uruguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Brazil
In 2021, supplies from abroad of telecommunications instruments increased by 1.7% to X units, rising for the fourth year in a row after five years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, telecommunications instrument imports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of telecommunications instrument to Brazil, accounting for a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, telecommunications instrument imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), sevenfold. South Korea (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +6.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-23.3% per year) and South Korea (-7.8% per year).
In value terms, the largest telecommunications instrument suppliers to Brazil were China ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X), with a combined 60% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 20%.
Sweden, with a CAGR of +11.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 18%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
