The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 70%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Bolivia (X tons), Paraguay (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) were the main destinations of tomato puree exports from Brazil, together comprising 85% of total exports.

In value terms, Bolivia ($X) remains the key foreign market for tomato puree and paste exports from Brazil, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Paraguay ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Venezuela, with a 5% share.

As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, tomato puree imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +26.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 126%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Chile (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Peru (X tons) were the main suppliers of tomato puree imports to Brazil, together accounting for 93% of total imports. China, Egypt and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.9%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +39.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest tomato puree suppliers to Brazil were Chile ($X), Italy ($X) and Peru ($X), with a combined 92% share of total imports. China, Egypt and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 5.6%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Egypt, with a CAGR of +54.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
