In general, total exports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +39.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 44%. The exports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, truck exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 43% against the previous year. Exports by Country
Mexico (X units), Argentina (X units) and Chile (X units) were the main destinations of truck exports from Brazil, with a combined 60% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, Paraguay and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Colombia (with a CAGR of +23.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Chile ($X), Argentina ($X) and Peru ($X) were the largest markets for truck exported from Brazil worldwide, with a combined 56% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 34%.
Colombia, with a CAGR of +21.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average truck export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 8.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Africa (+26.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Brazil
Truck imports into Brazil reached X units in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, truck imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Argentina (X units) constituted the largest truck supplier to Brazil, accounting for a 82% share of total imports. Moreover, truck imports from Argentina exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Uruguay (X units), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Mexico (X units), with a 6.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Argentina stood at +2.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Uruguay (+29.9% per year) and Mexico (+12.1% per year).
In value terms, Argentina ($X) constituted the largest supplier of trucks to Brazil, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 9.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Uruguay, with a 7.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Argentina was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (+21.1% per year) and Uruguay (+32.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average truck import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild decline. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per unit), while the price for Uruguay ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
