The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, wood chips and particles exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China (X cubic meters) was the main destination for wood chips and particles exports from Brazil, with a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, wood chips and particles exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Portugal (X cubic meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Japan (X cubic meters), with an 11% share.

For the eleventh consecutive year, Brazil recorded growth in overseas purchases of wood chips and particles, which increased by 32% to X cubic meters in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 97%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

The United States (X cubic meters), Argentina (X cubic meters) and Germany (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of wood chips and particles imports to Brazil, together accounting for 97% of total imports.
