Spain, Romania, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Austria, the United States, Greece and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +27.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of bedding and furnishing articles (quilts, eiderdowns, cushions, pouffes and pillows), when their volume decreased by -32% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 74%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, bedding and furnishing article imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 88% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

China (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of bedding and furnishing article imports to Bulgaria, with a combined 67% share of total imports. Poland, Romania, India and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +134.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous year.
