In value terms, copper bar, rod and profile exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 58%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest copper bar, rod and profile supplier to Bulgaria, with a 84% share of total imports. Moreover, copper bar, rod and profile imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Spain (X tons), with a 2.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey stood at +3.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+8.7% per year) and Spain (+13.9% per year).

In value terms, Turkey ($X) constituted the largest supplier of copper bars, rods and profiles to Bulgaria, comprising 87% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 3.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 2.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Turkey amounted to +6.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+0.1% per year) and Spain (+21.2% per year).

Overall, import price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, copper bar, rod and profile import price increased by +51.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 28%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
