Imports into Bulgaria
In 2021, supplies from abroad of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances increased by 31% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), China (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances to Bulgaria, with a combined 76% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, Greece, Romania, Poland, the Netherlands, Serbia and the UK, which together accounted for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +47.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
