Romania (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) were the main destinations of flat glass exports from Bulgaria, with a combined 62% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Ukraine, Greece, North Macedonia, Hungary, Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 32%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Kosovo (with a CAGR of +86.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Romania ($X) remains the key foreign market for flat glass exports from Bulgaria, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Serbia, with a 9.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Romania totaled +13.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+37.9% per year) and Serbia (+10.2% per year).

From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, flat glass imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 60%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Moreover, flat glass imports from Romania exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Hungary (X tons), threefold.
