North Macedonia (X tons) was the main destination for non-alloy steel i-sections exports from Bulgaria, with a 49% share of total exports. Moreover, non-alloy steel i-sections exports to North Macedonia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Romania (X tons), twofold. Greece (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 18% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to North Macedonia amounted to +15.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (+11.0% per year) and Greece (+24.4% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for non-alloy steel i-sections exported from Bulgaria were North Macedonia ($X), Romania ($X) and Greece ($X), with a combined 84% share of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, Greece, with a CAGR of +20.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-alloy steel i-sections export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 44% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Bulgaria
In 2021, supplies from abroad of i-sections of non-alloy steel increased by 5.5% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 30%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-alloy steel i-sections imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a strong increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Luxembourg (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the main suppliers of non-alloy steel i-sections imports to Bulgaria, together comprising 65% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, Spain, Poland and Germany, which together accounted for a further 31%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +34.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($X per ton) and Romania ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) and Turkey ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
