In 2021, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of bovine and equine leather to Bulgaria, with a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, bovine and equine leather imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), twofold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Italy amounted to -6.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+22.2% per year) and Germany (-10.5% per year).
