Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-medical x-ray exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 494% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey (X tons), North Macedonia (X tons) and Russia (X kg) were the main destinations of non-medical x-ray exports from Bulgaria, with a combined 98% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Russia (with a CAGR of +46.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, North Macedonia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for non-medical x-rays exports from Bulgaria, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to North Macedonia totaled +16.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+61.2% per year) and Russia (+11.8% per year).

The average non-medical x-ray export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 92%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greece (+37.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Bulgaria
In 2021, imports of non-medical x-rays into Bulgaria fell sharply to X tons, dropping by -58.6% against the previous year. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 453% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-medical x-ray imports fell markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 329%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-medical x-ray to Bulgaria, with a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, non-medical x-ray imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), threefold. China (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+106.7% per year) and China (+31.5% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-medical x-rays to Bulgaria, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany stood at +10.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+78.9% per year) and China (+34.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average non-medical x-ray import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 62% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, non-medical x-ray import price increased by +86.7% against 2018 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
