In value terms, particle board exports fell modestly to $X in 2022. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +86.6% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 44%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.

Greece (X cubic meters) was the main destination for particle board exports from Bulgaria, with a 27% share of total exports. Moreover, particle board exports to Greece exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X cubic meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Algeria (X cubic meters), with a 13% share.

In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.0% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Turkey (X cubic meters), Romania (X cubic meters) and Hungary (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of particle board imports to Bulgaria, with a combined 90% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +30.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
