Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ball bearing parts exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

France (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main destinations of ball bearing parts exports from Bulgaria, with a combined 75% share of total exports. Germany, Poland and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, imports of parts of ball or roller bearings into Bulgaria skyrocketed to X tons, growing by 19% compared with the year before. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +25.3% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 27%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
