In 2022, purchases abroad of sulphides, polysulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates increased by 72% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed prominent growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Iran (X tons) were the main suppliers of sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates imports to Bulgaria, together comprising 84% of total imports. Italy, Turkey, China, Spain and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.

As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
