In 2021, supplies from abroad of tyres for aircraft increased by 27% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports recorded a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 417%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aircraft tyre imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 548% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, the UK (X units) constituted the largest aircraft tyre supplier to Bulgaria, accounting for a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, aircraft tyre imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Kuwait (X units), sevenfold. Russia (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.3% share.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while the price for Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
