Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, passenger car tyre exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 155% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -9.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 29%. China (X units), Serbia (X units) and Romania (X units) were the main suppliers of passenger car tyre imports to Bulgaria, together comprising 49% of total imports. Poland, Turkey, Hungary, Slovenia, the Netherlands, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.
