Carbon Dioxide Market Size in Cameroon

Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Congo (X tons) was the main destination for carbon dioxide exports from Cameroon, with a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, carbon dioxide exports to Congo exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Chad (X tons), sixfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Congo totaled +139.7%.

In value terms, Chad ($X) remains the key foreign market for carbon dioxide exports from Cameroon, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Congo ($X), with a 27% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Chad amounted to +36.7%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average carbon dioxide export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -36.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 252% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chad ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Congo stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chad (+20.1%).

Carbon Dioxide Imports

Imports into Cameroon

In 2022, the amount of carbon dioxide imported into Cameroon shrank remarkably to X tons, which is down by -49% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 257%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, carbon dioxide imports dropped notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 247%. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Belgium (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Nigeria (X tons) were the main suppliers of carbon dioxide imports to Cameroon, together accounting for 91% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +26.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, the largest carbon dioxide suppliers to Cameroon were Nigeria ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a combined 72% share of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Nigeria, with a CAGR of -3.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average carbon dioxide import price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 87%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
