In value terms, non-electric chainsaw exports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 232%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Chad (X units) was the main destination for non-electric chainsaw exports from Cameroon, with a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, non-electric chainsaw exports to Chad exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Congo (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Central African Republic (X units), with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Chad totaled +24.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Congo (+6.6% per year) and Central African Republic (-1.5% per year).

In value terms, Chad ($X) remains the key foreign market for chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor exports from Cameroon, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Congo ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Central African Republic, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Chad stood at +19.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Congo (+1.5% per year) and Central African Republic (-2.3% per year).

In 2022, the average non-electric chainsaw export price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 29%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to France ($X per unit) and Central African Republic ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Congo ($X per unit) and Chad ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+29.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Cameroon

After four years of growth, purchases abroad of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor decreased by -25.5% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 72%. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 61%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Germany (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of non-electric chainsaw imports to Cameroon, with a combined 80% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +49.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X), Germany ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest non-electric chainsaw suppliers to Cameroon, with a combined 64% share of total imports. Japan and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 4.3%.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
