Comb Market Size in Cameroon

In value terms, comb exports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 172% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Sao Tome and Principe (X kg) was the main destination for comb exports from Cameroon, with a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, comb exports to Sao Tome and Principe exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X kg), fourfold. Morocco (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to France totaled +6.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Switzerland (+3.8% per year) and Canada (+11.4% per year).

In 2022, the amount of combs and hair-slides imported into Cameroon plummeted to X tons, waning by -36.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 260%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, comb imports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 349% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In 2022, China (X tons) was the main supplier of comb to Cameroon, accounting for a 96% share of total imports. It was followed by Hong Kong SAR (X tons), with a 3% share of total imports.
