In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of cow peas (dry), when their volume decreased by -36.6% to X tons. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 173%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, cow peas exports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 240% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
The UK (X tons) was the main destination for cow peas exports from Cameroon, with a 69% share of total exports. Moreover, cow peas exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X kg), tenfold. Belgium (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK stood at +85.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (0.0% per year) and Belgium (+554.8% per year).
In value terms, the UK ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for cow peas (dry) exports from Cameroon, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 6.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 0.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the UK totaled +167.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (0.0% per year) and Belgium (+379.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average cow peas export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 25% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a temperate increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 110%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+44.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, after four years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of cow peas (dry), when their volume decreased by -4.1% to X kg. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 190% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X kg. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cow peas imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 265%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Imports by Country
India (X kg) and the United States (X kg) were the main suppliers of cow peas imports to Cameroon.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +11.5%).

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for the United States totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
